Two Cabins in Two Weekends --- Yes, Please!

I was lucky enough to get to spend two weekends back-to-back in lovely mountain cabins.

Skykomish, WA
Right after New Years Will and I were invited to spend a weekend in an awesome cabin right on the Skykomish River that our friends Amy and Josh were renting.  It was situated in a lovely setting and had all the amenities a cabin should have, most importantly, a fire-pit and a hot tub!  We spent time lounging around, playing games, and also went skiing.

Blue Ridge, GA
The very next weekend I was on a work trip to the Southeast and was able to spend the weekend with my best friends, Jessica and Sarah.  Jess's parents have a great cabin in Blue Ridge, GA, just about an hour and a half north of Atlanta.  And, again, it had a fabulous hot-tub ;)
This was actually before we left for the cabin.
Vivi was baking a pizza in her Minny Mouse dress
and chef's outfit.

Minny Mouse / Hugh Hefner look.  Always in style.

Tiny-sized bench! So cute!

Remember Christmas?

Remember the twinkling lights, the smell of pine, the yummy scent of sugar and baked goods --- followed by coziness and no stress?

Yes, that was Christmas 2013.  And it has come and gone, and I've been around the US on a thousand flights since then...but, boy, did I enjoy my time off.

Christmas in the 'Bama
I was lucky enough to get to visit my family (Mom, Dad, and Alan) in Alabama this year prior to Christmas Day.  To top it off, Jess, Gavin, and the babies came to say 'hi'.  They love their Aunt Meme, and Aunt Meme loves them!  I spent my time in Alabama making cookies, cutting down a Christmas tree ole' fashion style, and hanging with the family. Nothing like Christmas on the water and short-sleeves ;)

After leaving my home, I met Will in Atlanta, well, Griffin, GA, actually on Christmas day.  We had a lovely Christmas morning with the Eidsons and then went to see Will's Grandad in Cordele, GA and had lunch at his favorite spot --- Denny's.  I can't say that I'm a Denny's fan, far from it, but was pleasantly surprised by my veggie and cheese quesadilla lunch.

During my visit to Cordele I stumbled across a goldmine of embarrassing/hilarious/cute photos from Will's childhood. It's only appropriate that I show you a few of them. Have I mentioned that when he was little (actually, still to this day) he wanted to be Tom Cruise from Top Gun?  Yes... he had his own custom dog tags and probably wore this to school....
Not sure what's more embarrassing... the sweatband or sunnies...

Here's serious Will.  Kah-rah-tay!
And to wrap up Christmas neatly, with a bow... we went to Lake Oconee to the family lake house.  We took a boat ride for a while and while a bit chilly, still enjoyed being on the water. The Eidsons did a major renovation to the house and it looks amazing.  Hopefully we can visit in the summer sometime so we will get to enjoy the water!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
